Amərətatāt (Amr̥tatāt), shortened to Amərətāt, is a concept literally meaning non-death-ness: a ‘negative particle’ + mərəta (marta, cf. maṣ̌(ii)a) ‘death’ + tāt a suffix meaning ‘state of’. In the Gathas, Amərətatāt refers to the immortality which can only be achieved when an object, person, or society, for example, has holistically actualized the order of existence within itself, thereby eliminating all causes of decay, death, and entropy. For this reason, it is usually paired with Hauruuatāt, given one can’t have one without the other. Full article coming soon.
